This is one of those recipes that could be argued that it is a dessert instead of a salad. It really could go either way. Because I grew up in Utah, where Jello is a staple food, I always ate this as a salad. My aunt always brought a version of this salad to family gatherings. It is a definite favorite of mine! You can use any flavor of Jello in this salad to vary the recipe. I prefer Orange Jello, but the others are all delicious! There is nothing healthy about this salad, but it is SO good!

Alterations
You can use any flavor of Jello. Orange is my personal favorite, but Strawberry is a close second.
You can add canned Pineapple, sliced Bananas, or Fruit Cocktail as a variation. I prefer just Mandarin Oranges.
You can use plain marshmallows instead of colored marshmallows.
