Pecan Twist
This recipe has been a family favorite for years! It looks like it is fancy, but it really isn’t too complicated. And there is no yeast involved, which makes it even better. This can be served as a breakfast food, or it can be used as a dessert. I prefer to eat it for breakfast. People will think that you slaved for hours in making this simple meal.
Preparation:
1. Preheat your oven to 450°F.
2. In a mixer, combine Flour, Sugar, Baking Powder, and Salt.
3. Add the Butter and mix it in until your flour mixture is crumbly.
4. Add the Milk and Eggs and mix it until it forms a ball of dough. If the dough is really sticky you will want to add a little more flour. You will need to be able to handle it and roll it out, so it shouldn’t be sticky.
5. Flour your surface and roll out the dough into an oval. The dough should be about a quarter inch thick when it is rolled out.
6. Melt 6 Tbl. Butter and spread the butter over the rolled-out dough.
7. Make your cinnamon sugar mixture by combining in a small bowl the Brown sugar, White Sugar, Cinnamon, and Pecans.
8. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over half the rolled-out dough. Then fold the dough in half so that the cinnamon sugar is in between the 2 halves of dough.
9. With a pizza cutter or a knife, cut the dough into strips that are about 2 inches wide. Then twist each strip and place it on a greased cookie sheet.
9. Bake the Pecan Twist at 450°F for 10 minutes.
10. While it is baking you can make your frosting. Combine the Butter, Vanilla, Milk, and the Powdered Sugar. Mix this with a hand mixer and set aside until the baking is done.
11. When the Pecan Twist is starting to turn a light golden brown, remove it from the oven and with a pastry brush, spread the frosting over it.
12. Serve it warm or cold and enjoy!
